Mission & Objectives
The mission of The Meadows School is to develop in its students a love of and respect for learning--to inspire them to seek knowledge independently and prepare them for higher academic pursuits. The School maintains high standards by recognizing and attending to the various needs of its students while providing optimum intellectual, emotional, social, and physical challenge and development. The School seeks to instill in its students the concept that education carries with it an obligation to self, family, and community, and encourages each student to become a compassionate and productive member of society.
Philosophy
Exposure to multiple experiences remains a primary focus of the School's program. Each student is given liberal opportunities to participate in a full range of activities in an exceptionally nurturing, intentionally small, learning environment. The Meadows School maintains highest academic, moral, and social standards which are sustained in the School's commitment to excellence in all aspects of student life.
Objectives
The Meadows School program is designed for the "academically ambitious," able student, and the focus is to "teach to the top." The School has established objectives to:
- Reinforce traditional values and emphasize the cultivation of integrity, good manners, and personal discipline.
- Give careful consideration to stages of development and styles of learning which recognize the varying abilities of each child.
- Build self-confidence through setting and achieving realistic goals.
- Encourage wholehearted participation in all aspects of school life.
- Foster personal growth through meaningful, intellectual exploration and fulfillment by teaching basic skills as the foundation for critical thinking, maintaining low student-teacher ratios for satisfying individual needs, and utilizing community resources to optimize student learning.
