COMMITTEES
ADOPT-A-SCHOOL - Chairpersons: Dana Wiesner
This committee collects new and gently used items throughout the School year for the at-risk students attending Hollingsworth Elementary School. A special gift item is collected to take to the children for the holidays. Collections for the 2007-2008 School year include:
August and throughout the year: gently used children's clothing September: personal hygiene items November: children's new red or navy sweatshirts December: board games February: new socks and underwear April and May: school supplies and gently used backpacks
ALL SCHOOL RECEPTION - Chairpersons: Kim Cohen and Nilda Chang
Plans the Welcome Back - All School Reception prior to the start of the new School year. Prepares fliers and assists with the summer mailing.
ARBOR DAY - Chairperson: Debbie Youngblood (Development Office)
The Arbor Day Committee is a joint effort between faculty, staff, landscaping personnel, parents, and the Committee. Each year 360 posters are produced to educate the students and celebrate the landscaping of The Meadows School. Volunteers are needed to help with crafts, games, and food the day of the picnic. The Committee meets every Friday until the day of the event (about four meetings). Arbor Day is held in September or October each year.
BOOSTER CLUB - Chairpersons: Debbie Young Yock, Jill Wall, and Traci Kaspar
Supply and sell items in the concession stand in the gymnasium and at the outside sports field. Organize parents who volunteer time at different sporting events.
BUDDY PROGRAM - Carrie Herndon and Rachel Kolosky, Lower School; Anne Maire DeJong, Middle School; Cheryl Hill and Christine Fennell, Upper School
Parent volunteers arrange for new Meadows students to meet returning students in the same grade.
CLASS REPRESENTATIVES - Two parents per grade (6-12) 6th Grade - Amy Close and Laura Rehberger 7th Grade - Cynthia Gordon and Polly List 8th Grade - Beth Asaf and Deena Cooperman (Leibowitz) 9th Grade - Lynn Wexler and Deana Campbell 10th Grade - Pearl Kim and Chun Man Raimist 11th Grade - Wendi Miller and Danilu Coskey 12th Grade - Candace Yuman and Lisa Kaercher
Assists Middle and Upper School Vice Presidents when needed, create grade-level phone trees, assist with Hospitality Receptions, and Fiesta de Mayo Carnival.
CORRESPONDENCE - Chairpersons: Anneliese Hall and Tamar Walsh
Prepare the summer mailing and The Meadows Mirror for bulk mailing by collating, labeling, and sorting for the bulk-mailing center.
eScrip - Chairperson: Rachel Kolosky
Register parents on the eScrip website the day of orientation. Throughout the School year, send out fliers reminding parents to register. Run promos to boost participation.
FACULTY LUNCHEONS - Chairpersons: Monica Han and Kirsten Johnson
Organizes two luncheons in recognition of the faculty, staff, and administration. Preparations include setting up, serving, and cleaning up at lunch time in each of the faculty lounges on the particular dates.
FIESTA DE MAYO CARNIVAL - Chairpersons: Teri Thomas and Kari Halkyard
This is a School event, which begins with the Middle Cinco de Mayo performances during the school day and a Carnival after school for all students. Parent volunteers along with Upper Schol students assist at game booths and rides the day of the Fiesta de Mayo celebration. Lower School room parents assist in some preparation prior to the event.
FRIENDSHIP - Chairpersons: Krista Waddell, Kimberly Litt, Donna Sabol
Organize refreshments for all Parents Association functions and various School activities throughout the School year. Requires attendance at particular functions for setup before, and cleanup after.
GIFT WRAP - Chairperson: Tracy Hirsberg and Jean Gray
Send fliers home in the backpacks and/or through the mail. Make posters. Collect and send in all sales orders during early fall with distribution in the late fall. Organize the ice cream party for the Lower School sales.
HISTORIAN - Chairperson: Saundra de Montano
Takes pictures at TMSPA events and organizes the photos into yearly albums. Organizes and restores old photos and albums.
HOSPITALITY RECEPTIONS - Chairpersons: Deanna Rule and Gemma Wulff
Recruit parents from each grade level to host parents-only receptions. This helps new parents meet other parents.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE - Chairpersons: Pauline Ng Lee and Wendi Miller
Prepares the slate for the general election to be held the end of May or early June.
SCHOOL STORE - Chairpersons: April Becker and Pam Tolan
Stock and sell items with School crest or logo. Man a booth at School functions, especially in Lower School.
USED UNIFORMS - Chairperson: Lydia Zeller
Maintain the used uniform rooms in Lower and Middle School.
