2011-2012 OPEN MEETING SCHEDULE updated January 12, 2012

COMMITTEES
ALL-SCHOOL RECEPTION - Chairpersons: Emily Goodman, Nilda Chang, and Melanie Schiemer Plan the Welcome Back/All-School Reception prior to the start of the new school year. Prepares fliers, assist with the summer mailing, and work with the Hospitality Committee and Class Representatives for this event.
ARBOR DAY - Chairperson: Debbie Youngblood (Development Office) The Arbor Day Committee is a joint effort between faculty, staff, landscaping personnel, parents, and the Committee. Each year 360 posters are produced to educate the students and celebrate the landscaping of The Meadows School. Volunteers are needed to help with crafts, games, and food the day of the picnic. The Committee meets every Friday until the day of the event (about four meetings). Arbor Day is held in September or October each year.
BUDDY PROGRAM - Petra Dorn and Marci Riedy, Lower School Jill Chambers, Middle School Gina Perry and Marcia Chami, Ninth Grade Monica Brown and Robyn Manzini, Tenth Grade Arrange Buddy volunteers with parents and coordinate yearend/summer activites for new Meadows students.
CLASS REPRESENTATIVES - Two parents per grade (6-12) 6th Grade - Kathryn Telles and Tracy Hirsberg 7th Grade - Wendi Miller and Mary Alice Nielson 8th Grade - Monica Han and Stephanie Gullbrants 9th Grade - Gina Perry and Marcia Chami 10th Grade - Jeanne Peterson and Diane Rufty 11th Grade - Anne Maire DeJong and Polly List 12th Grade - Monica Brown and Robyn Manzini Assist Middle and Upper School Vice Presidents when needed, create grade-level phone trees, assist with Hospitality Committee and Fiesta de Mayo Carnival.
COMMUNITY ACTION - Chairperson: Shari Wong Amanda Kouretas and Laurie Holbrook, Lower School Kelly Iriye, Middle School Lori Burns and Stephanie Gullbrants, Upper School Coordinate student-driven community service opportunities that are conducted by Meadows students. Organize parents and students to help with service projects for an "adopted" school, such as tutoring and other school-related needs.
CORRESPONDENCE - Chairpersons: Anneliese Hall and Christine Gilbert Prepare the summer mailing and The Meadows Mirror for bulk mailing by collating, labeling, and sorting for the bulk-mailing center throughout the school year.
eScrip - Chairpersons: Marci Riedy Register parents on the eScrip website the day of orientation. Throughout the school year, send fliers and attend hospitality events to remind parents to register. Promote and boost participation.
FACULTY LUNCHEONS - Chairpersons: Laura Burns and Jill Rowe Organize two luncheons in recognition of the faculty, staff, and administration. Preparations include setting up, serving, and cleaning up at lunch time in each of the faculty lounges on the particular dates.
FIESTA DE MAYO CARNIVAL - Chairpersons: Shari Cook, Kari Halkyard This is a School event, which is a Carnival after school for all students. Parent volunteers along with Upper and Middle Schol students assist at game booths and rides the day of the Fiesta de Mayo celebration. Beginning and Lower School Room Parents assist in some preparation prior to the event.
GIFT WRAP - Chairpersons: Cindy Eaton and Erin Luebke Plan all aspects of the gift wrap venture for collection and distribution in late fall. Publicize to Meadows families with fliers and posters. Collect and deposit sales upon arrival throught the school year.
GREENING COMMITTEE - Chairpersons: Kimberly Litt and Vanessa Chamberlin Houssels The function of The Meadows Greening Committee is to promote "green" habits in gardening, recycling, and healthy nutritional options within The Meadows School.
HISTORIAN - Chairpersons: Barbara Forbes Take pictures at School events and organize them into yearly albums. Organize and restore old photos and albums.
HOSPITALITY - Chairperson: Patty Yeager Committee Chairs: Tracey Duncan, Beginning School afternoon session Cheryl Garber, Beginning School morning session Joey Tsuchiyama and Ashley Muncey, Lower School Susie Schleifer and Susie Lee, Middle School Janice Adams and Katie McCall, Upper School Chairperson coordinates events with Executive Board and Committee Chairs. Committee Chairs attend their respective division events at each of the Beginning, Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools. Organize refreshments for Parents Association functions and various School activities throughout the school year. Attendance is required at these functions to set up, to meet and greet parents who attend and tell them about TMSPA, and to clean up after an event. All events and dates will be scheduled and planned at the beginning of the school year in coordination with the Division Directors.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE - Chairpersons: Emily Goodman and Jean Fink Prepare the slate for the general election to be held the end of May or June.
PARENT RECEPTIONS - Noey Richardson and Mickey Norton, Kindergarten Emily Goodman, Sixth Grade Teri Thomas, Ninth Grade Volunteer to host parents-only receptions for grades kindergarten, 6, and 9. This will help new parents meet other parents.
SCHOOL STORE - Chairpersons: Mickey Norton Stock and sell items with School crest or logo. Man a booth at School functions, especially in Lower School.
USED UNIFORMS - Chairpersons: Shari Cook, Sheila Evans, Lower School; Bonnie Ng, Middle School Maintain the used uniform rooms in respective division building and organize the lost and found areas.
