April 13-19 is National Library Week (April 2008)

To celebrate National Library Week, The Meadows will host the second annual Literature Day Ice Cream Celebration on Thursday, April 17, in the Library. Come to the Library to vote for your favorite books and get a free ticket to the Ice Cream celebration. All votes must be submitted by noon on Tuesday, April 15.

JSTOR Access Available  (March 2008)

The Meadows became the first and only secondary school in Nevada to offer access to JSTOR, an archive of important scholarly journals generally available only through colleges. Links are provided under Featured Global Connections on the Library home page and under the Databases & E-Books section.

 Library Adds Fireplace (January 2008)

With the addition of an electronic fireplace in the Library, a new tradition has begun. Students gather around the fireplace for cocoa and cookies on Friday mornings. Mrs. Mormom is happy to report that more students are checking out books as a result.

August 2007

A Library Resources Curriculum Team has been formed. The team will formulate lessons and activities that will ensure that every Upper School student uses library resources regularly in at least one subject area this School year.

Library Adds SMART Room (Fall 2006)

The library added a new technology center in November 2006 called the SMART Room. The furniture consists of tables and chairs that can be configured to create either a 16-person conference table or a 16-person training room. A SMART Board with both a remote monitor and a Bluetooth screen, LCD projector, Bose speakers, DVD/VHS and cable TV were installed.

This room serves as a SMART meeting room where the latest software, Web pages and technology tools can be demonstrated and employed. In addition, it is a conference/seminar room, providing students with an extra quiet place to study or a place for small group discussions. The space was used previously by the Technology Department as an office and data center.

Be sure to stop in the Upper/Middle School Library and see the new SMART Room.
