Over the weekend, TMS Forensics students competed in the state tournament at Arbor View High School. Nearly 500 students from more than 40 schools from all over the state competed. The Meadows competes against all levels of schools at state regardless of the number of students attending a school. The Meadows did exceptionally well, qualifying people for finals in four events and taking Second Place Sweepstakes in our division.
In Individual Events, The Meadows had many strong performances in the Interpretation events. Amanda placed sixth in the state with her "Hilarious Interpretation" of Cannibals by Heather Dundas. Jasmine placed fifth in the state with her "Dramatic Interpretation" of Grief Struck. Anna and Erin placed sixth in the state in "Duo Interpretation," performing a piece based on dating advice from The Worst Case Scenario.
In Debate, Trace advanced through the preliminary sessions of Student Congress with excellent scores - high enough for him to reach the final session in Congress. Mike S. made it to the semifinals of Lincoln-Douglas Debate before losing to the eventual champion from Spring Valley. Korbin and Ryan advanced through the preliminary debates undefeated, earning the top seed and tied for third in the state before losing to McQueen High School from Reno.
