The Upper School varsity cheerleaders returned from Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Camp with a few more championship titles. The camp was held at the University of California, Santa Barbara, on August 20-23. Two-hundred-fifteen cheerleaders attended the camp. The Meadows squad placed first in the Home Dance division, performing a routine choreographed at home and then performed the first night of camp against the other squads. They also placed first in the Extreme Routine division, performing a routine that includes stunts, dance, and tumbling exercises taught at the camp. The Meadows squad placed first in the sand castle building contest, surprisingly since all the other squads were from California. The squad also took home the Superior Award. This award is given to the squad that receives superior ratings on everything they performed at camp. According to coach Alicia Capanna '02, this is the best that a TMS varsity squad has ever done overall at camp in the history of the School!
