Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) recently announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program and 34,000 Commended Students. Twelve Meadows seniors were names Semifinalists and seven earned Commended status. Additionally two seniors were named 2008 National Achievement Semifinalists. The National Achievement Scholarship Program is an academic competition established in 1964 to provide recognition for outstanding Black American high school students.
