Garrett G., an eighth grader at The Meadows School, recently learned that he is one of seven students under the age of fourteen to be recognized for outstanding creative writing by The Intergeneration Foundation. Garrett entered an annual writing contest this past spring as an assignment in Mrs. Reeder's seventh grade English class. The contest required young people to describe a time in their lives or create an original story about a hypothetical event which reinforced and recognized the power of storytelling as a way to connect generations and stress the importance of cultural traditions. The contest received entries from students in 42 states and 21 foreign countries.
