GAME 5: Meadows Mustangs: 28 Mountain View Christian Academy: 28 On Friday, October 12, at The Meadows, the Mustangs played a back and forth game against a good team. Torrey M. '12 pounded the ball in for two rushing touchdowns, Brandon T. '12 ran the ball in for a touchdown and Gerard M. '12 ran the ball in for a touchdown. With two minutes left and leading by eight points the Mustangs surrendered a touchdown and then the two point conversion. The Mustangs then put together a march when it was abruptly stopped with 15 seconds left and the Mountain View team intercepted a pass. Racing down the sideline, center Stephen G. '12 saved a game winning touchdown on the eight-yard line. The Mustangs then stopped them on one final play to preserve the tie. At the middle school level, there is no overtime; it simply ends in a tie. The Mustangs, now 2-2-1, will take on undefeated Alamo on Friday, October 19, at Meadows.
GAME 6: Meadows Mustangs: 32 Alamo: 12 On October 19, at Meadows, the Mustangs took on the formerly undefeated Alamo team. The Mustangs put Alamo on their heels when Kicker Ramiz A. '14 kicked a perfect onside kick on the opening kickoff that was recovered by Safety Anthony G. '12. The Mustangs then scored on their second play when tailback Gerard M. '12 ran the ball in for a touchdown. Gerard would add on another rushing touchdown and two more passings. These two passing touchdowns were both to wingback Michael K. '12. Michael also ran back a kickoff for a touchdown which put the game out of reach. The Mustangs had seven take-aways including three interceptions by defensive back Taylor B. '12. Defensive lineman Anthony K. '13 caused and recovered a fumble, defensive lineman Jake S. '13 recovered a fumble and defensive backs Michael K. '12 and Frank F. '13 both had an interception. The Mustangs, without tailback Brandon T. '12, ran the ball by committee. Anthony G. '12, Michael K. '12, Gerard M. '12 and Torrey M. '12 all took time at tailback. This was a team victory where everyone played on both defense and offense. The Mustangs next game is in Tonopah on Thursday, October 25, at 3:00 p.m.
