On August 9, 2009, ten student members of The Meadows School Theatre Department Argyle Mustangs will perform Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead at the world's largest performing arts festival, International Fringe Festival, in Edinburgh, Scotland. The trip begins with a small stop in London, England, where we will tour the city, take in a West End performance, and get a first-hand view behind the scenes of a theatre. Then to Edinburgh where the students will perform four times throughout the nine-day stay. Other events include site-seeing at Stirling Castle and the Trossachs, numerous theatrical shows, and an evening performance of the Military Tattoo.
If you would like to see Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, by Tom Stoppard, before the students leave, there will be two preview performances on Friday, August 7, and Saturday, August 8, at 6:30 p.m. The cast includes:
Caroline H. '10 and Lyndsey M. '09 as Rosencrantz Ali H. '09 and Nikki S. '09 as Guildenstern Tyler F. '09 as the Player Adam L. '11 as King Claudius Jilliene J. '09 as Queen Gertrude and Ophelia Andi S. '10 as Hamlet Palmer H. '11 as Polonius Lexi F. '09 stage managing.
To enhance the show, the very talented Randi P. '10 will be composing the original sound track. The previews are free and will be held in the CFA.
