In spring 2009, more than 115,000 students across the country took the National Spanish Examination which is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). The Meadows students have a long history of high achievement scores, and last spring seven students earned gold medals, having scored at the 95 percentile or better; seven students earned silver medals, having scored better than 85-94 percentile; and six students earned bronze medals, having scored better than 75-84 percentile. In Nevada, five schools participated, winning 37 awards in total. The Meadows won 22 of these 37 awards. As well as individual certificates and medals, AATSP has awarded these students a cash prize totaling $325.00 which will be used toward a lunch outing for the group.
