Battle for the Bell Spring 2021 Update
This year has been very different for students and faculty. Students have been learning in-person, hybrid, or remote. Gatherings have not happened the way The Meadows community has been accustomed to, and we have not been able to have all-school assemblies and witness the excitement or hear the Silver-Silver or Blue-Blue chants from students when the Battle for the Bell competition is about to happen. Yet, despite not having those assemblies, we have still been able to continue with the Battle for the Bell and our Silver versus Blue team competition.

Currently, in the Battle for the Bell, the Silver team is ahead with 69 points, but the Blue team is not far behind with 54 points as competitions take place across campus. To earn points, the Lower School has had hippity-hop races, basketball shootouts, and participated in a crayon drive. The Middle School generated points and a lot of school spirit with their fight song competition. All divisions came together to earn points for their team and help those less fortunate by participating in a food drive for HELP of Southern Nevada that ended in a tie! The winning team had to be decided by a coin toss by Mr. Gregersen. The Upper School has had some lunch and grade level competitions in advisory. One highlight was a relay race between the 8th grade and the 9th grade which ended with the Blue team being awarded 8 points and the Silver team 10 points.

Also, varsity sports recently started competing, and we have had the opportunity to hear the bell ring once again. We are looking forward to hearing the bell ring more the rest of the school year as our teams will surely be victorious.

It is a joy to see that the pandemic has not stopped the Battle for the Bell—putting smiles on all of our faces as we continue this tradition. We are not far off from deciding a winner and holding our bell painting ceremony. So, if you are on the Silver team or the Blue team, continue to do your best as we near the final point tally!

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful spring break and that all students come back ready to finish off the school year strong!
