TMSPA is Getting Ready for Many Exciting Events

Hello Meadows family, this is Alison Verdirame, President of The Meadows School Parent Association. As the year winds down, TMSPA is getting ready for many exciting events. We had great weather for our Spring Carnival this past Friday, which helped raise money for the events that TMSPA puts on for the school. Some of the things we do include hosting teacher luncheons and providing snacks for the Middle and Upper Schools during their midterms and finals. We help support the Kindergarten Fashion Show by giving the kids a treat. Now we are getting ready to help at the New Family Welcome BBQ for new and new-to-division students and families next week. We will be on hand to check people in and help direct students and families to their divisions. We will also have booths staffed with TMSPA volunteers to answer new parents’ questions.

If you are a parent, you are already a member of TMSPA. Within the Association, we have an Executive Committee run by the president of TMSPA. The committee also includes a president-elect, vice presidents for each division, secretary, treasurer, communications point person, hospitality chair, theatre and fine arts chair, and booster chair.

We also have a nominating committee, which for this year and next year, is headed by Wendy Agrawal. This committee helps us fill the above-mentioned positions and many more for TMSPA. We always need help with Trunk-or-Treat in October, the Spring Carnival in April, and the booster, which runs throughout the year.

We realize that many parents volunteer in different ways here at The Meadows School. Whether you hosted a trunk at our Halloween Trunk-or-Treat, sent in a treat for your child’s class, helped at the concession stand, or sent in plates for a class party, you volunteered. Every volunteer is a treasure to us. That is why we will be hosting our first Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, May 18th, where I will announce the 2023-2024 slate of officers. If you are a part of the slate, I greatly encourage you to be a part of the luncheon. After the slate is announced, I will be handing the presidency over to my successor, Rebecca Staniec, your president for the years 2023-2025. We will also be presenting our TMSPA Marci Reidy Excellence in Service Award. We encourage all who have volunteered this year to participate in this new and exciting luncheon event.

I know that as parents, there is a lot we are all doing as we prepare to say goodbye to this school year. There are finals, AP tests, year-end parties, and most bittersweet, saying goodbye to our seniors. My ending piece of advice is to enjoy it all. Have a great rest of the year. It has been an honor serving as your president of TMSPA these past two years. Thank you for your support.
