Faculty Spotlight: Alexis Dagenais

Alexis Dagenais serves as The Meadows School’s Middle School theatre teacher while also collaborating with Upper School productions. She is currently completing her seventh year in education and her third year at TMS. Originally from the Lake of the Ozarks region of central Missouri, Mrs. Dagenais holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre with an emphasis in Acting and a minor in Dance from Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri. Her background in performance and movement helps shape a dynamic theatre program that encourages students to explore creativity while building confidence both on and off the stage.

For Mrs. Dagenais, teaching is about growth, both for her students and for herself. She values the opportunity to watch young people develop confidence, skills, and a stronger sense of who they are. At the same time, she recognizes that working with students challenges her to grow as well. Because students change so quickly, every day brings new lessons and perspectives. Mrs. Dagenais considers it a privilege to know that even for a short time she may help a student grow, discover their voice, and develop as both a performer and a person.

Students in Mrs. Dagenais’ program can expect a theatre experience that is hands-on, collaborative, and rooted in high standards. Middle School productions are designed to give students a professional-level performance experience while emphasizing that they are students first. Sixth grade theatre introduces students to a wide range of theatrical elements, including acting, technical theatre, and stage etiquette, culminating in an original, student-designed performance. In seventh and eighth grade classes, instruction often adapts to the interests of the students, from exploring global theatre styles to musical theatre workshops with industry professionals. Mrs. Dagenais’ commitment to excellence has already brought recognition to the program, including last year’s production of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, which won Best Show in Nevada and was invited to perform as the mainstage production at the Nevada State Theatre Conference.
