Faculty Spotlight: Demmy Villalpando

Demmy Villalpando brings warmth, experience, and deep expertise to his role as one of the college counselors at The Meadows School. Now in his third year at TMS and his 13th year in college counseling, Demmy helps students and families navigate one of the most meaningful chapters of the Upper School experience. He earned his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and graduate studies at the University of Chicago, bringing a thoughtful and highly informed perspective to his work with students.

What Demmy loves most about college counseling is getting to know students and helping them build authentic narratives that reflect who they truly are. He is especially excited that the Class of 2027 will be the first class he supports throughout their entire Upper School journey at TMS. For him, the most rewarding part of the process is seeing students feel fulfilled, accomplished, and ultimately admitted to colleges that are the right fit for them. Students and families can expect him to be a passionate, knowledgeable, and accessible resource throughout their TMS experience, college search, and application process.

Above all, Demmy’s favorite part of The Meadows School is the students and the opportunity to play a role in such formative years of their lives. He hopes students see him not only as a counselor, but also as a trusted adult who is always there for them, which is why he encourages them and the TMS community to simply call him “Demmy.” Demmy’s doctoral research led him to become a Fulbright Researcher in Mexico where he did archival and field investigations while also teaching at different universities. He is a native Spanish speaker and has lived in four different countries and even in the jungle. Demmy is currently writing a fantasy book series he jokes he may never finish. He is also a proud TMS parent of a sixth grader and a second grader.
