Faculty Spotlight: Esteban Vazquez

Esteban Vazquez brings two decades of teaching experience to The Meadows School, where he has spent the past three years inspiring Lower School students through Spanish. A graduate of Cal State Northridge (B.A.) and Pepperdine University (M.Ed.), Mr. Vazquez is passionate about helping students not only learn a language, but also develop an appreciation for the diverse cultures that shape it. He believes language learning is a gateway to expanding students’ perspectives and deepening their understanding of the world.

In the classroom, Mr. Vazquez emphasizes real-world application and cultural connection. His students can expect engaging lessons that highlight the richness of Hispanic cultures and encourage them to see themselves as part of a broader, global community. By fostering curiosity and cultural awareness, he helps young learners build both confidence and empathy as they grow in their language skills.

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Vazquez’s international background and dynamic experiences make him a unique presence on campus. A native French speaker from Switzerland, he holds three passports (USA, Switzerland, and Spain) and was once a Swiss National Champion in pétanque. He is also a former professional soccer goalkeeper and now serves as the Lower School Soccer Head Coach, as well as a recruiter, trainer, and conference presenter. For Mr. Vazquez, the opportunity to both teach Spanish and coach soccer at The Meadows School is his personal “El Dorado.”
