Tim Alderete
Speech & Debate Coach
Tim Alderete has coached speech and debate for thirty years, including the last 17 at The Meadows. He has coached debate state champions in Illinois, Michigan, and Nevada. He has been awarded the Acolyte Award for Outstanding Assistant Coaching and the Walter Ulrich Award for Judging Excellence. More recently, he has been awarded the Ted Belch Coach and Educator of the Year award from UNLV, the Chuck Ballingall Outstanding Coach award by Notre Dame High School, and the David Damus Educator of the Year award from USC. He has also been inducted into the Golden Desert Forensics League Hall of Fame.
Malcolm Gordon
Speech & Debate Coach
Malcolm Gordon came to The Meadows School policy debate program after coaching nine years at the collegiate level. During that time, he coached top competitors from Harvard, Cal Berkeley, and UMKC. This includes multiple appearances in the college "elite 8," and the first and second overall speakers at the college national championship. As a competitor in college, Malcolm was a three-time top 10 speaker at the college national championships, culminating in a second place finish his senior year. In his time at The Meadows School, he has coached two teams to the Tournament of Champions.
