In grades six through twelve, all Middle and Upper School students are required to participate in our “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) program (See the Parent & Student Handbook for more detailed information.) Every day each student is required to bring their device to school, which will be used in the classroom at the teachers’ discretion.

A device purchased in the last two years will most likely satisfy the following hardware requirements:

Yes, you will. Students are often expected to print at home. On the occasion a student needs to print something at school, there are select print options available on campus. 

The Meadows School faculty and staff will provide students with instructions and assistance for connecting their devices to our network, as well as answer basic tech questions. We will also provide access to librarians and technicians who can help students with minor problems during the school day.

School faculty and staff cannot attempt to repair, correct, troubleshoot, or be responsible for malfunctioning personal hardware or software. Student devices are brought to the school at the students’ and parents’ own risk. In the event that a privately-owned device is lost, stolen, or damaged, The Meadows School is not responsible for any financial or data loss.

The school uses myMeadows, an information system powered by Veracross, for grades, assignments, and communications with families. Parents are given access at the time of student enrollment, which may be as early as Beginning School. Students in Middle School and Upper School are given their own accounts to access grades and assignments and receive school communications as well.

The School uses GSuite (Google) for Education to provide students with the same collaboration tools used through the collegiate level and beyond. All students in grades PreK through twelfth are provided with a Google account. Email access (Gmail) is opened for students in sixth through eighth grades to allow easy communication with their Meadows classmates and teachers only. Email access (Gmail) is opened for students in ninth through twelfth grades with restricted access.

Students in grades PreK through second utilize Seesaw, grades third through eighth use Google Classroom, and ninth through twelfth utilize Instructure’s Canvas as an online learning management systems complementary to myMeadows.

Students often need to charge their laptops and listen to audio or video on their computers while on campus. Beginning and Lower School classrooms have charging carts and headphones in each room for school devices. For Middle and Upper School, we suggest that students keep a device charger and pair of headphones or earbuds with them in their backpacks or lockers. The Middle and Upper School library has a minimal supply of chargers and over-the-ear headphones that may be borrowed for one day.
