Theatre & Dance

Theater and dance are unique as they are disciplines that require outward focus. Students are trained to place their attention on the other actors and fellow dancers and react accordingly, thus making theater and dance and their most visible creation – the performance – an invaluable experience for young adults and children alike.

Theatre at The Meadows starts with an academic lens, giving students classroom instruction for both performance and technical theater. Actors take classes in multiple disciplines, studying a curriculum ranging from classic Shakespeare to modern musical comedy.

Technical Theatre

Meadows students have opportunities to experience all aspects of the theater. When not performing on stage, Middle and Upper School students work to build sets, design costumes, run lights, stage manage, and operate sound for main stage productions.

The Meadows School boasts a dance team and a swing dance club. In addition, dance is an integral part of the show choir curriculum and incorporated into all musical performances.

Performance Opportunities

In addition to auditioning for one of the main stage productions, students have the opportunity to perform (and tech) at assemblies and recitals as well as compete at the Utah Shakespeare Festival and the Nevada Thespian Competition. Students have also been invited to perform at the American High School Theatre Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.
